Baggage Transportation
Means
Single
Day Events • Multi-Day
Events
Compared
with transporting bicycles, transporting
baggage is relatively easy because
the infrastructure already exists to do so. All of the trains and busses we
rely
on to transport participants as
part of
our
transportation
services also have the capacity to transport large amounts of baggage,
but no trains or busses can transport large amounts of fully assembled, unboxed
bicycles. Therefore we MUST transport your bike ourselves in a separate vehicle.
As a result, you
will either carry your baggage with you or we will transport it for you
separately as part of our transportation service, depending on the duration
of event and
the type of vehicle you will
travel on. Maximizing the amount of baggage you carry yourself on the
train or bus allows us more room to transport bikes and our
gear and
supplies in our vehicles which helps to keep the price of our transportation
service low.
When we transport your baggage separately ourselves, it will always
be transported inside a vehicle (most likely the same one we also use
to transport bicycles) as opposed to it being out in the open to prevent it
from getting wet if it rains. Participants will load and unload their
own baggage themselves with staff assistance as necessary. That
way everyone will be assured that their baggage
has been properly loaded
and
it has
not been left
behind. You should load your baggage as far
to the back of the vehicle space as possible and stack it on the top of the
pile
of other
bags all
the
way to the ceiling
- please be considerate
of the other participants who will load after you! Once loaded, you will
not have access to your baggage until we arrive at the destination.
If there are multiple arrival locations, such as a main lodging site and
supported hotel, you will put your baggage in separate piles
going to each location because we need to load all items going to each location
together so they are easier to unload when we arrive.

arrival locations.
Single Day Events
You will carry your baggage with you aboard the vehicle you travel on -
we will not transport it ourselves on a separate vehicle. Carrying your baggage
with you really won't be an issue because your baggage will be relatively light
because the event
is only one day. You will be able to access anything you might need
during the trip (such as food and drinks) and your baggage can't be mixed
up or left behind!
Multi-Day Events
The way baggage is transported for multi-day events depends
on the type of vehicle you will be travelling aboard.
In all situations, participants will load and unload their own baggage themselves
with staff assistance. That way all participants will be assured that their
baggage
has been properly loaded and it has not been left behind. Baggage should
be loaded as far to the back of the vehicle space as possible and stacked
on the top of the pile of other baggage all the way to the ceiling - please
be considerate of the other participants who will load after you!
Private
Charter Coach Busses
Baggage will be transported in the compartments under the coach bus. If space
in the compartments fills up or if the bus does not have any baggage compartments
underneath it, we will transport your baggage in a separate vehicle.
Not including carry on items, the size of each participant's baggage must
be limited to 5 square feet so all baggage can fit in the baggage compartments
underneath the coach bus. Based on extensive experience we fully expect this
space to be fully adequate and there will also be additional space inside
the bus itself to store any carry on items. For reference, the dimensions
of a big green army style duffle bag is about 1' x 1' x 3' (3 sq. feet).
In the very unlikely event we run into a problem with insufficient baggage
capacity in the coach busses themselves, we also can put any extra baggage
(which will be minimal) in the bike truck itself or in any open space inside
the coach bus, particularly if there are any open seats.
All
other Vehicles
If you will travel aboard any other type of vehicle, they do not
have the capacity to easily transport large amounts
of
baggage and we will
always separately transport your baggage ourselves separately.
