Travel Methods • Scheduling

Transportation • Bicycle Transportation
It
will be your own responsibility to transport yourself, your
baggage, and your bike to the start and from the end of the event.
The
logistics of how you do this
can be a BIG planning factor, particularly in terms
of transportation in each town and also your own personal schedule.
There are pros and cons
for each travel method in regards to you, your baggage,
and especially your bicycle, and these considerations are particularly
important if
you will be travelling a long
way to get to or from the event. We strongly recommend researching
each available transportation option
in order to select the one that will best meet your needs.

Scheduling
and Timing
You will need to make sure that your travel schedule (including travel times
between locations in town) properly accounts for such considerations as:
- The ride starting time
- Your expected ride completion time
- Delays in completing the ride due to such things as fatigue, bicycle
mechanical problems, or medical situations
- The check in time of our transportation service
- The expected arrival time of mid route pick ups and drop offs for our
transportation service
- The business hours of in town facilities and services, such as a
bike shop
- Additional considerations if you are shipping
your bicycle on your own
- The departure and arrival times of local and long distance public transportation
- Possible delays on local and long distance public transportation
- Delays due to traffic or weather
Baggage Transportation
You will be able to transport your baggage with you on any travel
method you choose, although it may be easier to transport your baggage on
some travel methods more than others depending on how many bags you have.
Bicycle Transportation
The biggest consideration of transporting your bicycle is whether
you can transport it fully assembled or if it has to be boxed in a separate
shipping container. This particularly important before the start of the event
so your bicycle can be properly reassembled and is ready to ride before the
start of the event.
We strongly recommend travelling
with your bicycle fully assembled if at all possible because you will absolutely
know that it is ready to ride before the
start of the event and you can avoid disassembling and reassembling it entirely.
If you must travel with your bicycle boxed you will need to have it disassembled
and
boxed
before
you
leave
and also have it unboxed
and
reassembled when
you arrive.
Travelling with Your Bicycle Fully Assembled
You can travel with your bicycle fully assembled on the following
travel methods (click for
more information).
Travelling with Your Bicycle Boxed
If you travel on most long distance public transportation carriers, you
must transport your bicycle boxed in a separate shipping container.
