Having many participants riding together as a group significantly
decreases the effect of any one individual means of navigation failing, such
as lost or damaged cue sheets and maps or a malfunctioning GPS
device. In fact, even if only one person
in a group has a set of cue sheets and maps or funtioning GPS device everyone
else in that group can still
navigate the route
as
long
as
that person leads the group by riding in front, calling out turns, letting
everyone else know where they are at, etc.
