Long Distance Public Transportation

Towns
 Long
distance public transportation service (airlines, trains, and busses) is
available in only one of the RAGBRAI starting towns (Sioux City) and some
of the ending towns.
While taking public transportation may be a little less
expensive
than our transportation service (when it is even available), it is significantly less
convenient. No long distance
public transportation carrier serving the RAGBRAI starting or ending towns
also allows passengers to carry an unboxed, fully
assembled bicycle
aboard so you must have your bike disassembled and
packed to travel on them. Taking public transportation also takes much longer
than our transportation service since you have to stop at other towns along
the
route
and you will probably need
to transfer as part
of your itinerary. It is extremely unlikely that your schedule would
depart or arrive at a convenient time and all convenient schedules on
all public transportation services typically
get booked up very quickly after
the RAGBRAI route is announced. And after you arrive you still have
to transport you, your baggage, and your boxed bicycle between the
bus or train station and the RAGBRAI festivities on your own as well
as have it unpacked
and reassembled.
